Work to make a hotel in Cheltenham more energy efficient while it remained open and busy has been completed. Cheltenham Chase engaged mechanical and electrical contractors Ash Integrated Services to carry out the project.

Ash Integrated Services worked to strict timelines, working closely with the hotel to implement strategic shutdowns to avoid impacting guests when the old system needed to be shut down for short periods.

The 122-room hotel, which includes a restaurant, spa and leisure facilities, as well as state-of-the-art conference, meeting and events space, was kept busy throughout the works.

Ash Integrated Services Co-Founder and Director Howard Jackson said, “Hotels have heating 24/7, so having up-to-date technology is absolutely critical to ensure the system is is as energy efficient as possible.

“That’s not a negligible amount of energy saved, which naturally has a positive impact on fuel bills.

“It’s always a more complex scheme when the heating and hot water units are changed and the installations must continue to operate normally. Our experience of working with accommodation providers has allowed us to act transparently with the hotel.

“The system was pre-designed by a consultant we’ve worked with on other hotel projects and they knew we could deliver it on time and on budget with minimal disruption.”

Ash Integrated Services had at least four staff on site throughout the process, with the number increasing towards the end as part of the commissioning process.

Peter Gee, property director of the hotel management group, The QHotels Collection, said: “Hotels need reliable and consistent heating systems, so making these systems more efficient and cost effective is essential in response. to increased operating costs.

“Ash’s Integrated Services team has been a great asset to work with. They maintained close contact with our staff throughout the project and allowed business to continue as usual so that we could continue to provide comfort to our guests.
