Here’s Every 2023 Subaru Forester Trim Explained

Consumers have different preferences, even when it comes to the vehicle they drive. Some prefer sedans or SUVs, while others prefer sports cars or pickup trucks. Their preferences may depend on their needs or other influences, such as their culture or the people around them.


Automotive preferences, however, go beyond vehicle type – they have reasons for wanting a certain car in their garage. That’s pretty much the harsh truth in the automotive world, and automakers openly acknowledge them by offering different trims or grades.

Subaru also knows this truth, which is why the Japanese automaker offers its vehicles in different trim levels. Each trim level usually comes with distinct content and features, allowing customers to choose a model that suits their tastes and preferences.

Known for its high levels of safety, the Subaru Forester compact SUV is one of the automaker’s best-selling vehicles. The Japanese car brand is also offering the 2023 Subaru Forester in various versionsand it can be useful for a potential customer to know which one to choose.


Subaru Forester base model starts at $26,395

All Subaru Forester trims come with a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine, delivering 182 hp of peak power and 176 lb-ft of peak torque. Paired with a Lineartronic CVT and Subaru symmetrical all-wheel drive, that grind is powerful enough to allow the compact SUV to tow up to 1,500 lbs.

All Forester versions too feature the latest EyeSight driver assistance technology and seven standard airbags: driver and front passenger front airbags, side curtain airbags and pelvis/torso side airbags, and driver’s knee airbag.

Available at an MSRP of $26,395, the base Forester comes standard with power windows, door locks, side mirrors, two USB-A ports in the front center console, multi-information display, keyless entry to distance, a combined meter with color LCD screen, as well as the Subaru Starlink 6.5-inch Multimedia Plus system, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity, SiriusXM and TravelLink.

Upgraded premium and sporty-looking sport trims

Meanwhile, the Forester Premium builds on the base trim and adds the All-Weather Package (heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and wiper de-icer), a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support with power adjustment, 17-inch aluminum black alloy wheels, ladder-type roof rails, dark tinted windows, power panoramic sunroof, as well as keyless access with push-button start.

Featuring X-MODE with Hill Descent Control as standard, the Premium version also includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel (with silver stitching), center instrument panel trim in black with silver metallic finish, and interior door handles chrome. The Premium version starts at $29,395.

Starting at $30,965, the Forester Sport offers a sporty appearance with dynamic elements. Building on the Premium trim, the Sport features exclusive gloss black trim, 18-inch black-finished wheels and a black rear roof spoiler. Along with the orange Sport badge, this trim also features orange accents in the front lower valance, roof rail mounts and on the side.

Inside, the Forester Sport comes with a dark gray color scheme with orange stitching and accents. This version also includes Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Automatic Emergency Steering as well as two USB-A charging ports in the rear center console.

Wilderness and Limited Trim model built on the top model

An underrated off-road beast, the Forester Wilderness also builds on the Premium trim while providing additional capability on and off-road through mechanical, design and functional improvements. It’s suited for off-road adventures, thanks to 9.2-inch ground clearance, special tuning and Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires mounted on exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels.

The exterior of this trim features a hexagonal grille, hexagonal LED fog lamps and an anti-glare hood decal in a matte black finish. It features a wider wheel arch liner and front skid plate. Its interior is quite water resistant, which makes this pad suitable for transporting even wet outdoor gear. The Forester Wilderness starting price is $34,020.

Priced from $33,075, the Forester Limited offers all the features of the Premium trim and adds 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels in black (machine finish), body-color exterior mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators and interior trim. dark gray accent for the fog lights.

The Limited trim is loaded with upgraded elements such as perforated leather upholstery, silver metallic with gloss black finished center instrument panel trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter handle, Starlink 8-inch Multimedia Plus, adds automatic emergency steering and 1-touch folding rear seatback. It also includes dual-zone automatic climate control, two USB-A charging ports in the rear center console, and a power tailgate.

Forester Hiking Tops The Model Range

The top-of-the-line Forester Touring packs all the standard and optional elements of the Limited while adding the DriverFocus distraction-reduction system. It rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels in dark gray (machine finish) and comes with satin chrome folding door mirrors (with integrated turn signals) and LED fog lamps with chrome trim. Its roof rails have a silver finish, as well as its front, rear and side skirts. This flagship wears chrome exterior badging.

Customers can choose between black or saddle brown perforated leather-trimmed upholstery, which Subaru has paired with a 10-way power driver’s seat with two-position memory, an eight-way power front passenger seat, as well as heated outboard rear seats. The Forester Touring has a starting price of $36,495.
