Mumbai boy drowns after falling into elevator shaft full of water
A seven-year-old boy drowned after falling into an elevator shaft filled with rainwater at a construction site of an SRA building where slum dwellers had organized a wedding on Friday in Andheri (west ).
An FIR was registered against the site supervisor and others for failing to take adequate security measures.
The deceased, Mehboob Khan, had traveled there with his parents to attend the wedding. Police said the wedding was organized by workers on the ground floor without any permission.
Khan was playing when he is suspected of having fallen into the elevator shaft filled with rainwater. “While the music was playing, no one would have heard a sound. When his parents did not find him, they searched for him and found his slippers floating in the well, ”said a police officer. He was lifted from the water and taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A police official from the DN Nagar Police Station said, “Those who arranged the wedding are also at fault. For now, we have reserved the site supervisor under IPC section 304A (death by negligence) for failing to take adequate security measures. We have reserved other people who may be responsible for the incident and will appoint them once their roles are determined. “
A few months ago, another boy from a nearby slum was drowned in a pit in the same compound.
