BEDFORD, NY —The “Take it or Leave it” cabana is now open for the season and the unmistakably unique effort that Bedford 2030 is bringing to you is looking for volunteers to help the boutique staff.

Bedford residents can drop off unwanted household items that are still in good working order, or pick up and reuse items left behind by others. Anyone can come and pick up items for free. The idea behind The Take It Or Leave It (TIOLI) shed is to help recycle and reuse items, and reduce consumption and waste.

The take-out or leave-in shed is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon from May to October at the Bedford Hills station parking lot (behind the station by route 117). Even when the shed is closed, potential donors, barters and treasure hunters can visit the TIOLI Facebook group.

Bedford 2030 is always looking for volunteers and now that the Take Out or Leave Hangar is open for the summer, the group needs volunteers to work at the reception table every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. 30. The fun, yet satisfying job is to greet customers, help them register, and support the reuse of goods that would otherwise go to waste.

Please note that special COVID procedures remain in place at the TIOLI Shed.

To donate, pull over and turn off your car. Open the chest and the volunteers will remove the acceptable items. If there are too many things to store in the shed at the end of the day, donations may stop being accepted before closing time.

Visitors must register at the reception table, use hand sanitizer, follow the arrows and take turns.

The shed is closed when it rains or in case of bad weather.
