Advanced high performance spark plug design, with new ceramic formula, provides long life and increased service intervals for stationary and heavy-duty on-road and off-road applications

SKOKIE, Ill., August 25, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Tenneco Inc.’s (NYSE: TEN) Powertrain Business Group Launches Line of New Champion Engines® industrial spark plugs, known for their reliable, solid performance and rugged durability in industrial applications. The newly designed ignition offerings represent an economical dual Iridium solution that complements Tenneco’s Champion aftermarket spark plug portfolio.

“Our latest two Champion industrial spark plugs, in an M14 range with HEX16mm and new stronger ceramic, provide additional electrical and mechanical strength. The new designs, designated C-4001, are for use in commercial trucks biogas and natural gas stationary, buses and construction machinery,” said Volker Schererdirector of industrial ignition, sales and engineering, Tenneco.

These high performance dual Iridium M14 J-Gap spark plugs, offered with nominal electrode gaps of 0.25mm for stationary use and 0.40mm for on-road and off-road applications, feature a series of design advancements. A new ceramic formula for improved electrical and mechanical strength allows for greater resistance against high voltage breakdown. A unique nickel-plated shell hot-lock assembly increases mechanical robustness against dynamic combustion pressure. Additionally, the combination of laser-welded iridium pads and a custom mass of precious metals provides lifespan improvements over similar spark plug technologies on the market.

“Our advanced ceramic formula allows for higher tensile strength, which increases spark plug life. Additionally, the dual Iridium alloy ensures proper life and service intervals for our customers. heavy industrial and stationary,” Scherer said.

Tenneco industrial ignition products are sold under the GOETZE label®, Auburn® and Champion® global brands; they are advanced technologies that serve all heavy and industrial engine segments, including on-road and off-road, marine, power generation, compression/pumping and heating. Champion was the first to pioneer ignition products for heavy duty and industrial applications and for over 100 years has continued to lead the market in product excellence.
